A car lift, sometimes known as a car elevator or vehicle elevator, is a lift designed for the vertical transportation of cars, usually inside buildings. There is a range of different types of car lift in terms of features and functionalities.

The objective of these lifts is usually to increase the number of cars that can be parked in parking lots and parking garages. Where space is limited and the purchasing of land is expensive, for example in city centres, car parking with these car lift systems can reduce overall costs by utilising less land to park the same number of cars.

Other systems sometimes known as car lifts are those used by mechanics to hoist cars up in order to work on the undercarriage. These are not ones that Lödige supply, install, fix and maintain though.

Types of car lift

The Pegasos

The Pegasos garage car lift is designed for construction projects with limited space. It has the appearance of a garage and fits seamlessly into a parking structure design in place of a more conventional ramp.

It’s ideal for up to 20 car spaces and the car lift brings both the car and occupants to the parking deck. It requires no pit as it can be mounted directly on the floor and with no machine room, it’s easy to plan.

The platform can have either a simple rail or a comfortable cabin, it uses a silent electric motor, and the transport of people in the car is available on request. Find out more.

The Carrico

The Carrico is ideal when lower lifting heights and less frequent use are needed. It can take up to 26 cars and have two automatic stops at different levels. It doesn’t require a ramp and is especially suitable for narrow shafts.

It operates at a low level of noise and is a very cost-effective way to have a car lift for more cars in a limited space. Find out more.

The Traffico

The Traffico is a hydraulic car lift and is the option with the largest capacity as well as the greatest amount of flexibility. It’s ideal for larger buildings - both commercial and residential - and transports both car and passengers quickly and reliably to the required parking level. It has customisable options to meet individual requirements where needed and can take up to 40 cars.

It’s operated by remote control or smart card, has automatic doors and light beams between the cabin and shaft doors meaning there is no damage to the car during entry and exit. The light barriers facilitate vehicle positioning which further speeds up access and when there are two stopping points, the journey to the other level starts automatically as soon as the vehicle is positioned correctly.
