UK Industrial Lift Solutions for Warehouses, Factories and Commercial Buildings
Goods lifts, heavy goods lifts, car lifts and lorry lifts: 75 years of engineering expertise
Lödige Industries designs and manufactures industrial lifts for the vertical transport of goods, vehicles and passengers in warehouses, factories, logistics centres, retail environments and commercial buildings across the UK and worldwide. Our lift range spans goods-only lifts, goods attendant lifts, heavy goods lifts, car lifts and lorry lifts, with load capacities ranging from 500 kg to 40 tonnes and beyond.
Our lift solutions are used by businesses across industry, logistics, retail, healthcare and the public sector. Each solution is planned around the building, the required capacity and the operational process to enable efficient integration without unnecessary construction work.
We work directly with customers, architects and consultants at the planning stage to ensure every lift installation is optimised for the available space, the operational requirements and the project budget. Our UK-based team provides specification support, site surveys, installation and maintenance services, drawing on more than 75 years of German lift engineering and manufacturing expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Lödige offers customers in the UK a comprehensive range of lift solutions for industrial, logistics and commercial applications:, covering the following product families:
Goods Lifts: the SHERPA (goods only, up to 4,500 kg) and ESCORTA (goods attendant lift, passengers permitted, up to 4,500 kg) for warehouses, factories, retail and healthcare environments. Also includes the SERWA XPRESS, a pre-configured goods only lift with a 1,000 kg capacity, delivered in 6 weeks.
Mezzanine Goods Lifts: purpose-designed goods lifts for mezzanine floor access in warehouse and industrial environments.
Heavy Goods Lifts: the OLYMPUS, with load capacities of up to 40,000 kg and full forklift loading capability. Automated Goods Lifts: goods lifts with an automation module for integration with AGV and AMR fleets in automated warehouse environments.
Car Lifts: the PEGASOS, TRAFFICO, CARRICO and VERTICAR, designed specifically for vehicle transport with loads up to 4,200 kg.
Lorry Lifts: for multi-storey logistics buildings requiring HGV access across floor levels, with load capacities of up to 100 tonnes.
Lödige lift installations deliver several practical advantages over alternative goods movement solutions:
- No pit, no machine room: across the SHERPA, ESCORTA and SERWA XPRESS range, no pit excavation or machine room construction is required. This significantly reduces the civil works cost and installation time compared with traditional hydraulic lift installations.
- Freestanding self-supporting structures: all standard goods lift models arrive as freestanding structures that integrate into existing buildings and racking systems with only minimal anchor connections. No structural changes to the building are needed.
- High load capacity: goods lift capacities range from 1,000 kg (SERWA XPRESS) to 4,500 kg (SHERPA and ESCORTA) to 40,000 kg (OLYMPUS heavy goods lift), covering the full range of industrial and logistics requirements.
- Full service support: Lödige provides maintenance, modernisation and breakdown cover for all installed lifts through its UK-based service team, backed by 70 years of manufacturing experience.
- UK accreditations: Lödige holds ISO 9001 (UKAS), CHAS, SafeContractor and UKWA membership, and is an approved supplier to the Self Storage Association UK.
Lödige lifts are designed for straightforward day-to-day operation by warehouse and industrial staff. Controls are intuitive and no specialist operator training is required beyond a standard site induction.
For automated applications, the SHERPA and ESCORTA can be configured with an automation module that enables fully autonomous operation with AGV and AMR fleets, removing the need for manual call-and-send operation entirely.
For maintenance, all Lödige lift models are designed to minimise planned maintenance requirements. The control cabinet is mounted directly to the shaft on standard models, removing the need for a separate machine room and reducing the number of components requiring periodic inspection.
Lödige’s UK service team provides planned maintenance contracts, remote diagnostics and 24-hour emergency support.
The right goods lift depends on four main factors: the load capacity required, the lifting height, whether staff need to accompany the goods, and how quickly the lift is needed.
For loads up to 1,000 kg with a standard 2 or 3-stop application and a requirement for fast delivery: the SERWA XPRESS is a pre-configured solution delivered in 6 weeks.
For loads up to 4,500 kg where goods only need to be transported: the SHERPA is the appropriate model.
For loads up to 4,500 kg where trained staff need to travel with the goods: the ESCORTA (goods attendant lift, certified to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) is the appropriate model.
For loads from 4,500 kg up to 40,000 kg, or where forklift loading is required: the OLYMPUS heavy goods lift is the appropriate choice. For loads up to 4,500 kg specifically for mezzanine floor access: see our mezzanine goods lifts range.
For automated environments where AGV or AMR integration is required: our automation-ready goods lifts are compatible with both the SHERPA and ESCORTA product families.
If you are unsure which model is right for your project, our UK team can advise based on your specific load, space and operational requirements.
